The sixth route takes us to Kimolos, a quieter island compared to Milos, with only one industrial mineral mine, reminiscent of Milos' pre-industrial landscape. The central hill ranges are ash deposits from a massive eruption around 3 million years ago. Milos and Kimolos are geographically unified; a sea retreat of just 10 meters would connect the two islands into a single landmass. The western coast of Kimolos, specifically the Ellinika area, holds a unique historical significance: a classical-era settlement lies submerged 1-2 meters below the sea's surface, likely due to a major seismic event that caused subsidence.
