This website (hereinafter the “Website”) operates under the auspices of the Hellenic Survey of Geology and Mineral Exploration (hereinafter “HSGME” or “Authority”) and is its property. H.S.G.M.E. is a Legal Entity of Public Law, based at Acharnae Municipality, in Attica (Greece), governed by Greek Legislation and supervised by the Minister of Environment and Energy. The purpose of the website is to provide information to the public about the Geology Greece, as it is documented by the H.S.G.M.E. through the presentation of the volcanos, the geosites and geotrails and the National Geological Museum of Greece. 

Acceptance of terms – terms modifications

The use of the Website by the visitor/user (hereinafter the “User”) presupposes his unconditional agreement with the following terms of use, which apply to all content, pages, graphics, images, photographs, other multimedia and of the files included in the Website. Therefore, the User must carefully read these terms before use and if he does not agree, he must refrain from using the content of the Website. The User is advised to periodically check the terms, at the online address https://geotreasures.eagme.gr/privacy-policy/, for possible modifications thereof. The continued use of the Website even after any modifications implies the User’s unreserved acceptance of these terms.

The user expressly declares and acknowledges that all intellectual and industrial property rights on the website belong exclusively to the H.S.G.M.E., including, but not limited to, texts, maps, graphics, photographs, sounds, diagrams, illustrations, videos (hereinafter the “Content”), unless otherwise specified, and is governed by national, EU and international provisions on Intellectual Property. The Website Content is available for personal and non-commercial use only. The content may not be reproduced, transferred, displayed, published, or transmitted without the prior written permission of the H.S.G.M.E. The appearance of names, images, logos and distinctive features on the Website should in no way be construed as a transfer or assignment of any license or right to use them.

Limited liability

The Website User travels and/or hikes at his own risk. Those responsible for registering data take all the necessary and appropriate technical, procedural and organizational measures to ensure the correctness, accessibility, integrity and availability of the data registered. The information available through the Website is provided without conditions or guarantees as to its accuracy. The ownership and management of the H.S.G.M.E. bear no responsibility for any loss, injury or other problem that may arise to the User from the adoption of the advice, prompts and instructions of the Website, are not responsible for any damages that may be caused to the User’s device, through which he uses the Website, to the equipment (hardware) and its software or for any loss of data resulting from the use of the Website. No responsibility rests with H.S.G.M.E. for the goods or services presented therein, nor for any damages that may result from their use. The Website is intended exclusively for adults and may not be used by minors. In the event that minors make use of the Website, the H.S.G.M.E. bears no responsibility, given that the protection of minors is primarily the responsibility of the Authorized User who has the parental care of the minor, and who is solely responsible towards all third parties.

The User accepts that the Authority, at its discretion, is entitled to modify and/or temporarily or permanently interrupt the whole or part of the website even without warning, for reasons of maintenance, upgrading, security, etc. Therefore, the H.S.G.M.E. bears no responsibility for any kind of damage resulting from the inability of users to access the Website.

Information about other organizations or business (e.g. museums, monasteries, Environmental Education Centers, etc.) is provided by the organizations or business themselves. The Website, among other things, may provide hyperlinks to third-party websites (e.g. museums, geoparks), which have full control over the content they post and therefore full (civil and criminal) responsibility for the security of their websites, the legality and validity of their content and services as well as the responsibility for the restoration of any claim from any infringement of the rights of other persons, such as indicative intellectual property rights. The provision by the Website of a link to a third-party website does not in any way mean or imply approval of the website or its content by the H.S.G.M.E. The User is obliged to address directly the providers of these websites for any questions or other issues related to visiting and/or using them. In any case, the Authority reserves the right to remove links to third-party websites at any time, at its discretion.

The creation of a hyperlink to the Website is permitted, as long as it is not used to mislead the public or cause damage to the image of the H.S.G.M.E., and as long as it does not present the contents of the Website as part of another website or website foreign to the Authority. A prerequisite is that the Website is referred to. No use of the logo of the Authority and the Website is permitted without the prior written consent of the H.S.G.M.E.
